The ECE Department extended its warmest congratulations to the BE Electronic & Computer Engineering (LM118) students who received Scholarships from Intel Ireland at their awards ceremony that were held onsite in Intel, Shannon, 3rd November. Those in attendance from ECE were, HoD Martin Hayes and John Nelson. Recipients of the awards were, Peter Roe, Gabriel Denys, Dominik Przychodni and Jessica Dino, Women in Technology. Discussions were held with Emma Foley at the Intel awards night with a view to having her serve as an adjunct lecturer for new Artificial Intelligence (AI) Level 9 material that is planned for the Masters programmes to be offered by the Department in 2019. ECE are delighted that Emma has agreed in principle to participate. The department will continue to work to ensure that gender-balance is observed in the delivery of strategically important new disciplines like AI. This engagement along with Intel’s MoU with the University of Limerick (UL) signals ECE’s continued support for this company.
